After reaching the World Series last season, this is not how the Toronto Blue Jays envisioned they would start the new year. They have been dealing with injuries left and right, especially with the pitching staff. Shane Bieber, Jose Berrios, and Trey Yesavage all started the season on the IL and are still working their way back.
And now they have Cody Ponce and Bowden Francis, who will be out for the season, and Max Scherzer is currently dealing with forearm tendinitis. Offensively, catcher Alejandro Kirk fractured his thumb and won't be back until likely late May. Addison Barger is dealing with a left ankle sprain, and Anthony Santander is on the 60-day IL after he had surgery to repair a torn labrum.
