(AP Photo/Ashley Landis) Golfer Rory McIlroy reportedly spent more than $65,000 on wine for the annual Champions Dinner at Augusta National, in what is being described as the most expensive edition of the event to date, according to The Drinks Business . The dinner, held in Georgia and attended by past Masters champions, is traditionally hosted by the reigning winner of the tournament. McIlroy, celebrating his 2025 Masters victory, curated a premium wine list spanning Champagne, Burgundy, Bordeaux and Sauternes.

The total wine bill reached approximately $65,800, according to The Drinks Business, with individual bottles ranging from roughly $528 to more than $1,800. McIlroy’s selections included Salon Cuvée “S” Le Mesnil Blanc de Blancs Brut 2015, a rare Champagne produced in limited quantities and valued at around $1,100 per bottle. The list also featured 2022 Domaine Leflaive Bâtard-Montrachet, described by McIlroy as the first white wine he truly enjoyed, and widely cited as the most expensive wine served at the dinner at roughly $1,800 per bottle.

For red wine service, McIlroy selected the 1990 Château Lafite Rothschild, a first-growth Bordeaux vintage regarded as one of the region’s standout years. The dinner concluded with dessert paired with 1989 Château d’Yquem, a Sauternes often referred to as “liquid gold,” selected in part because it matches McIlroy’s birth year. 1 The Champions Dinner tradition also requires the reigning Masters champion to cover the cost of the event, meaning McIlroy personally footed the bill.

However, with a $4. 2 million tournament prize, the expense was unlikely to impact his winnings. McIlroy has previously described the wine selection process as a highlight of the event, noting his growing interest in collecting and working with sommeliers to design the menu.

The dinner has become one of golf’s most closely watched off-course traditions, blending sport, legacy and high-end hospitality in a single annual gathering. Scan any liquor bottle to see all expert reviews in one place with the free Daily Pour app . Download today!
