Georgia Bulldogs freshman arrested, faces driving charges
Georgia Bulldogs basketball player Kareem Stagg was arrested for speeding and driving without a license days after announcing his return to UGA.
The Georgia Bulldogs basketball team and coach Mike White recently learned that the Bulldogs will return forward Kareem Stagg, along with several other key contributors, for the 2026-2027 college basketball season. Days after Stagg announced his return to Georgia, he was arrested for speeding and driving without a valid license. The freshman was released after paying over $1,000 in bonds.
According to the police report, he was driving a 2023 Tesla and was going 22 miles over the speed limit. The report adds that Stagg still has a learner's permit and was not supposed to be driving alone. Stagg was arrested in Oconee County.
UGA athletics did not offer much additional information regarding Stagg's arrest. He joins a slew of Georgia football players in being arrested in recent years for driving charges. The rising sophomore recently posted on social media that his father had passed away.
Stagg's role grew throughout the year, with him taking on more playing time down the stretch. The 6-foot-8, 230-pound forward averaged 4. 8 points and 2.
