Dan Hooker doubts UFC makes Renato Moicano 'carcass and bones' fight
Dan Hooker is not expecting to draw a fellow veteran like Renato Moicano for his next fight. Hooker (24-14 MMA, 14-10 UFC) was one of three names Moicano (21-7-1 MMA, 13-7 UFC) called out after he submitted Chris Duncan in the UFC Fight Night 272 main event this past Saturday. Moicano felt disrespected by the UFC matching him up against a rising prospect in Duncan, but Hooker acknowledges that's the way the promotion operates – which is why he doesn't see them fighting.
"The UFC is not going to make that fight," Hooker told Submission Radio of Moicano. "We're both bones. We're both carcass and bones.
You're not going to put a 37-year-old against a 36-year-old, not even at the Apex. "They tried to feed Moicano to Duncan who's a good kid, big market, you crack into the European market, but they're not feeding me Moicano. Don't get me wrong, I would jump on that fight with two feet, but they don't feed one carcass to another carcass.
It's the sport. They use the older generation to build up the next generation. " Moicano snapped a two-fight losing skid with his win over Duncan.
Hooker is on the same boat Moicano was just on after back-to-back stoppage losses to Arman Tsarukyan and Benoit Saint Denis. This article originally appeared on MMA Junkie: Why Dan Hooker doesn't see UFC booking him against Renato Moicano
