But there is still room to get even better this season. One of the easiest ways to do so will be getting all of their injured players back and playing in the lineup, rotation, and bullpen again. While Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodon are big names, a different player looks to be trending in the right direction.
According to Erik Boland of Newsday Sports , Anthony Volpe, who's been out for some time due to a partially torn labrum, is closing in on a rehab start in the minors as his return looks to be on the horizon. This is some welcome news for the Yankees, as getting Volpe back into the lineup would be a nice boost, especially if he's back to full strength.
Of course, this plan has yet to begin, and still could change depending on how things go for Volpe this weekend and on Monday. But, barring any changes to the plan, Volpe looks poised to slot into the Double-A lineup and begin the trek back to the Major Leagues.
