Notre Dame DB Christian Gray discusses move from corner to nickel.

•Sky F1

Notre Dame DB Christian Gray is acclimating to a very different new position.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish cornerback Christian Gray is moving to a new position, and it seems that he's embracing learning it, despite differences from his previous role. Gray is moving from field corner to nickelback, and his new position isn't the same as his old one. He told the media that at field corner, he only had to worry about one or two things, while at nickel, he's thinking about four things -- including not just what the wide receivers are doing, but also the linemen and running backs.

Gray is moving into the veteran portion of his career, and if he can adjust to nickel well, the ND secondary, which was much maligned early in 2025 before improving, might just be a strength of this team from jump.
