Former New York Jets quarterback and Louisville standout Browning Nagle died, Louisville football announced on Friday. He was 57. In a statement Friday, Louisville Football praised Nagle for his “leadership on the field and passion for the game.
” We are saddened by the passing of Browning Nagle, former Fiesta Bowl MVP quarterback and Louisville great. His leadership on the field and passion for the game left a lasting mark on our program. Our thoughts are with his loved ones and teammates during this difficult time.

Despite entering the contest vs. Alabama as massive underdogs, Louisville jumped out to a 25-0 lead in the first quarter, eventually winning 34-7. Nagle turned in a star-making performance that day, throwing for a record 451 yards.
