Masters 2026: Wyndham Clark plays his way back into contention after a rough year

— It’s been a rough run of late for Wyndham Clark. But a strong round at Augusta National heading into the weekend has a way of healing what ails you. Clark, the 2023 U.

S. Open champion, took the clubhouse lead at the turn on Friday in Augusta with a four-under round to stand at -4 for the tournament. He started with three straight birdies from holes 2 to 4, and added two more at 15 and 16 to offset one mid-round bogey.

Since he teed it up in Augusta last year, it’s been a tough year. Clark has only recorded two top-10 finishes with zero wins. His Official World Golf Ranking has plummeted from No.
