Dez Bryant shares surprising opinion on Travis Hunter's new role
Travis Hunter will be shifting into his cornerback role full-time with the Jaguars, and one former NFL wideout disagrees with the move.
Travis Hunter will no longer be playing on the offensive side of the ball in Jacksonville – at least for now. Hunter will shift to a full-time defensive role with the Jaguars, focusing solely on his duties at the cornerback position. The Jaguars are officially making Travis Hunter a full-time cornerback, per @RapSheet .

com/STbttdScOq — Evan Sidery (@esidery) April 9, 2026 Hunter, who was the second overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner, played on both sides of the ball both in college and last season. In his seven appearances before his season ended due to injury, he recorded 298 receiving yards, one touchdown, 15 tackles, and three pass deflections. But not everyone is in agreement with the move.
Former All-Pro NFL wide receiver Dez Bryant, who played in the league from 2010-2020, immediately spoke out against the decision, arguing that Hunter is too talented on the offensive side of the ball to not keep him there. "He's too great of a playmaker to be a corner," wrote Bryant. He’s too great of a playmaker to be a corner!
