Dayton Dragons: Confidan's 4 RBIs leads comeback in first home win

Yerlin Confidan spent the offseason working on his batting stance because something had to change. He didn’t want to hit . 224 again this season and strike out almost a third of the time.

He wants, like every minor-leaguer, to make progress toward the big-league dream. “I know what I struggled with last year and went to the offseason and worked and worked for it,” Confidan said through a translator. “I worked on my batting stance so I could get to certain pitches better.

” On Thursday night at Day Air Ballpark, Confidan didn’t strike out. Bigger yet, he smacked a pair of two-run singles for his first RBIs of the season and his second four-RBI game since starting last season with the Dragons. “Amazing feeling having a two-hit game,” Confidan said.

“The first one I was looking for a pitch in the zone and I got it. Second one the same thing. Just see it and then hit it.

” Confidan’s game-changing hits were the first ones for the Dragons since scoring eight runs to win on opening night. And the three-run fourth inning and four-run sixth were the big innings the Dragons needed to break a three-game losing streak with a 7-4 win over Lake County. “In big situations he really narrowed his focus,” Dragons manager Julio Morillo said.
