Prep Roundup 4/9: Oppenheimer goes yard twice in ‘Creek win
Andrew Oppenheimer blasted a pair of bombs to pace Beavercreek baseball in a 12-1 win against Miamisburg on Thursday, April 9. Oppenheimer went 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI to lead the Beavers offensively. On the mound John Gruenberg struck out six over five innings to earn the victory.
The win, the fifth straight for the squad, bumped Beavercreek to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the Greater Western Ohio Conference. Next up for ‘Creek is a home game versus Xenia on Saturday, April 11. Baseball Springboro 4, Elder 3: Ben Veletean homered and Brody Hurley and Drew Siefer each drove in a run to help ‘Boro stay unbeaten at 6-0 overall.
Jackson Anderson scattered seven hits over seven innings to pick up the win on the mound. Greenville 11, Lima Shawnee 6: Ethan Jones clubbed a home run and Charlie Jasenski doubled and drove in three to pace Greenville. Franklin 18, Reading 0: Tanner Newsome picked up the win on the mound to go to 2-0 and 15 players reached base for Franklin.
Dayton Christian 13, Waynesville 6: Brody Schmidt tallied four RBI and Chris Hodge tacked on three to lead Dayton Christian. Tri-County North 10, Tri-Village 0: Ben Knife pitched the shutout and Kaden Powell drove in three runs to help TCN improve to 5-0 overall. Arcanum 13, Preble Shawnee 0: Regan Christ led the Arcanum offense with a home run and five RBI and Luke Stephens struck out 10 over five innings to earn the win on the mound.
Dixie 8, Ansonia 1: Dillon Phillips and Landry Broyles each batted in a pair of runs to help Dixie move to 3-0 in the WOAC. Northeastern 16, Southeastern 5: Levi Mefford accounted for five RBI and Jacoby Newman doubled, tripled and scored three runs to lead Northeastern. Yellow Springs 16, Middletown Christian 2: Bryce Fleming racked up 14 strikeouts over five innings, Kian Rainey accounted for five RBI and Yellow Springs improved to 5-0.
