Red Sox Option Former 1st-Round Pick to Triple-A Worcester

The Boston Red Sox are getting more depth down in the minors at Triple-A Worcester.

Boston Red Sox infielder Anthony Seigler The Boston Red Sox are going to have another depth option at their disposal down in the minors for the foreseeable future. When the Red Sox completed their offseason trade with the Milwaukee Brewers to acquire Caleb Durbin, Boston also landed utility man Andruw Monasterio, who is in the majors right now. The Red Sox also acquired former first-round pick Anthony Seigler, but he was brought along slowly as he dealt with left knee patellar tendinopathy .

He began a minor league rehab assignment on Thursday and the organization saw enough. On Friday, Boston announced that Seigler has been reinstated from the 10-Day Injured List and has been optioned down to Triple-A Worcester. "The Red Sox reinstated INF Anthony Seigler from the 10-Day Injured List and optioned him to Triple-A Worcester following Worcesterโ€™s game last night against Columbus," Boston announced.

This is good news for the club in general. Seigler is now another utility man depth option down in Triple-A ready to be promoted at any time. There's a lot to like about him.
