In order for the B’s to clinch a spot in the playoffs, they needed regulation wins from the Maple Leafs, Flyers, and Sabres.
Only the Sabres pulled it off. The Flyers lost to the Red Wings, and the Maple Leafs fell to the Islanders. Now, the Bruins can do it themselves.
James Hagens practiced for the first time yesterday. We await Marco Sturm’s decision on his forward lines; those will come at practice this morning. However, Sturm did not guarantee Hagens will make his debut on Saturday.
Only time will tell. Elsewhere around the league, the Penguins and Mammoth clinched playoff berths last night, and the Avalanche won the President’s Trophy for the league’s best record. The Devils are also shopping for a new general manager.
