A year ago, he hit two home runs on Opening Day, and he kept that pace up for a little while. This season, though, Abreu's start is even better. In the early going, he leads all of baseball in Wins Above Replacement.
While it's unlikely that Abreu will remain the best player in MLB for the entire season, it's also not a fluke. Abreu already had a lot of things going for him. He's a fantastic right fielder, with both a great glove, strong instincts and a rocket of a throwing arm.
