Is Mike Tyson boxing Floyd Mayweather Jr.? What we know about exhibition

Here's an update on the announced exhibition bout between boxing Hall of Famers Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather Jr.

It was last September that boxing hall of famers Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather Jr. announced an agreement to face off in an exhibition fight. Seven months later the fight is no closer to materializing.

The announcement drew the ire of boxing fans, with both fighters long removed from their best days in the ring and showing as much in recent bouts against the likes of Jake Paul and John Gotti III. Tyson proved little of his star power had diminished when he returned to face Paul at AT&T Stadium in 2024, breaking gate records in Texas while drawing 108 million live global viewers on Netflix. But while the fight was a commercial success, many viewers were left with a sour taste watching a 58-year-old Tyson unsuccessfully try and replicate his former success in the ring.

Mayweather Jr. last fought in an unscored exhibition against Gotti III in 2024 and this year set plans to burst back onto the scene, announcing exhibitions against Tyson and kickboxer Mike Zambidis, as well as a professional bout against Manny Pacquiao in September set to air on Netflix. While doubt has been cast over the fate of his bout against Pacquiao, both Mayweather Jr.

and Tyson have reaffirmed the validity of their exhibition in the months since the announcement, but when will the former superstars finally share the ring? More: Ranking boxing's top 10 fighters pound for pound in April Is Mike Tyson fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr.? Tyson and Mayweather Jr.
