There was little surprise when Tyson Fury announced the end of a year-long retirement to take one last crack at a heavyweight division in which he ruled for the better part of a decade. While his return to the ring felt inevitable, Fury's re-entrance to the division sparks the potential for a long-awaited British heavyweight showdown against Anthony Joshua , but first he'll have to get past Russian born contender Arslanbek Makhmudov. Fury hasn't fought since December 2024, when he suffered the second of back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk, the first losses of his career.
Makhmudov picked up two wins in 2025, after having suffered two stoppage defeats in the three fights prior. "I crack on with my own business ... I'm not anything but a fighter," Fury said in February.
