Cowboys trade rumors could impact Bengals on draft night

Yahoo Sports

The Cowboys might be trading around the top 10. It could hurt (or help) the Bengals.

The Cincinnati Bengals would probably love to add Caleb Downs to the defense at No. 10 overall. Todd McShay thinks they’re after Rueben Bain before anyone else.

And they won’t be alone in wanting either. Plenty of other teams undoubtedly have eyes on those prospects early in the first round. Perhaps none are more notable, though, than the Dallas Cowboys.

Those Cowboys hold the 12th pick in the order and ESPN’s Matt Miller recently noted that they’re a threat to trade up for a player like Downs or Bain: “Trading up continues to be a possibility, especially if there's a player they have high on their board who backslides a tad. Safety Caleb Downs (Ohio State) and edge rusher Rueben Bain Jr. (Miami) are believed to be players whom the Cowboys would maneuver for, as Dallas reportedly sees both as instant-impact game changers on defense.

” In the thick of the action on draft night, perhaps the Bengals view this as an opportunity to move down a few spots with the Cowboys and pick up more assets while doing so. They’d have to be comfortable with two-plus names on their board, though. But this is also perhaps something to watch in terms of the Bengals potentially getting leapfrogged.
