The big question was always — “How serious?

” Well, maybe not nearly enough: AC Milan have made the decision to push strongly for Leon Goretzka, a report claims, under the request of Massimiliano Allegri. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan are looking for ‘another Rabiot, perhaps a couple or even three’. While the team are busy trying to lock up a Champions League spot, the management are planning on adding some more experience to the squad.

The challenge should be to support Milan in their European resurgence, and in exchange Milan is ready to offer Goretzka – the target in question – a three-year contract worth at least €5m net per year in salary. This, too, is a Rabiot-style deal. Last September, Adrien signed a three-year deal with the Rossoneri until 2028.

The club’s strategy has necessarily been revised and adjusted: while long contracts for players over 30 were previously frowned upon, they are now a necessity driven by renewed international ambitions. This contract (€5 million per season) is far below what Goretzka currently earns (€13 million salary + €4 million bonus structure for a €17 million total package) per Capology . Would the Germany international be willing to take that much of a hit?
