Add one more major Jacksonville high school football recruit to the commitment list for Miami. Mandarin sophomore quarterback Knox Annis announced his commitment to the Hurricanes on April 9. Rivals first reported the news.
Annis selected the Canes ahead of numerous other offers, with Auburn and Tennessee also among his leading candidates. He's the latest in several top recruiting pickups for Miami and head coach Mario Cristobal, who signed three of the Times-Union Super 11 — Mandarin cornerback Brody Jennings , Bolles lineman JJ Sparks and St. Augustine wide receiver Somourian Wingo — in the 2026 signing class.
The Knox Annis file Rated as a three-star recruit in the 247Sports composite, the 6-3, 205-pound Annis is entering his third year as Mandarin starter. He took over behind center two games into his freshman year after Tramell Jones Jr. , now at Florida, sustained a season-ending August 2024 leg injury.
In 2025, Annis completed 112 of 186 passes for 2,203 yards with 22 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He improved his completion percentage significantly, from 43 percent to above 60 percent from his freshman to his sophomore year. Annis also demonstrated the athletic skills to extend plays and pick up drive-changing yardage on the ground, rushing 34 times for 330 yards last year.
