Lakers give update on Marcus Smart for Thursday's game vs Warriors

Yahoo Sports

Marcus Smart has missed the Lakers' last eight games with an ankle injury.

The Los Angeles Lakers will look to stop a three-game losing streak on Thursday evening when they visit the Golden State Warriors at Chase Center in San Francisco. With a 50-29 record, they still have a shot at getting the third seed in the Western Conference, but their margin for error is gone. LeBron James is available to play in this game after missing Tuesday's 123-87 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder due to a foot ailment.

But in addition to Luka Doncic, Austin Reaves and backup center Jaxson Hayes, guard Marcus Smart will not play because of an ankle injury. Marcus Smart (right ankle contusion) has been downgraded to out tonight in GSW, per the Lakers. He will miss his 9th straight game.

Stephen Curry, who recently returned after a two-month absence due to a knee injury to play in the Warriors' previous two games, will not take part in Thursday's contest. Steph Curry is now out tonight vs the Lakers on the front side of a back-to-back.

Warriors are in Sacramento tomorrow night. That means zero Curry against LeBron James games this season. — Anthony Slater (@anthonyVslater) April 9, 2026 After this matchup, the Lakers will return home to host the Phoenix Suns on Friday.
