Browns' QB room could not have had a "better start" with Todd Monken

Cleveland's quarterback room got off on the right foot with their new head coach Todd Monken.

The Cleveland Browns quarterback room is going to be one of the most talked-about position groups in the entire NFL. For a group that is comprised of a third-round pick, a fifth-round pick, and a player who was good five years ago, there shouldn't be much to talk about. However, this is going to be the most covered quarterback battle that will have very little relevance on the NFL season as a whole.

As it stands right now and depending on where you get your reporting, Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson are the two front-runners in the battle, with Dillon Gabriel trailing as the third stringer. Many were unsure about who was going to be in attendance for voluntary offseason workouts, but all three are back in town, and according to Todd Monken, they have gotten off to a great start. In this phase of the offseason program, teams are not able to do more than a walk-through pace on the field, but they are allowed to spend a lot of time in the classroom and on the dry-erase boards learning the new offense.

On Wednesday, during his media availability, Monken talked about the first meetings with his quarterbacks. He complimented the room, saying that they were all "bright-eyed" and ready to learn. He went on further to say that each player has displayed something in the past couple of years that is enough to like.

Whether it was some of the good Deshaun games back in 2023, or some of Shedeur's explosive plays at the end of 2025, or even Gabriel's approach when he had his chances last year. #Browns HC Todd Monken says the QB room is off to a great start, with all three quarterbacks “bright-eyed” and ready to go. He added there’s no clear frontrunner for first-team reps yet, as each has shown strong qualities early this offseason.
