Shane Lowry, after shooting an opening round 70, said this was as hard as he has seen Augusta in his years of playing The Masters. His Ryder Cup teammate, Tommy Fleetwood, had an up-and-down round. He was chasing down Patrick Reed for the lead early, but tripped up on the back nine to fall back to one under par.
