Blackhawks Prospect Pool Tops Latest League-Wide Rankings

Over the last month, Scott Wheeler of The Athletic has been releasing his 2026 NHL prospect pool rankings day by day, in which he evaluates all 32 teams’ respective pipelines and orders them from No. 32 to No. 1.

Wednesday marked the finale for Wheeler’s rankings, and he unveiled that the Chicago Blackhawks came in at the top of his list. The Blackhawks narrowly edged out the San Jose Sharks and moved up three spots after being ranked at No. 4 in the 2025 edition.

While he stated that San Jose could possess the best individual forward, defenseman, and goaltender among all the prospects considered between the two teams, Chicago has the significantly deeper collection of young talent. And that’s without Connor Bedard, Frank Nazar, Artyom Levshunov, Ryan Greene, and Wyatt Kaiser, among a few others, being considered, as Wheeler has them all graduated from prospect status.
