2026 cornerback draft prospect says he's meeting 49ers

•Yahoo Sports

The 49ers could be targeting this Day 2 cornerback prospect in the 2026 NFL draft.

Teams are ramping up meetings with prospects with only a few weeks before the 2026 NFL draft kicks off. The San Francisco 49ers have reportedly met with several already, and one cornerback prospect told reporters this week he's meeting with the team ahead of the draft. The 49ers are one of several teams meeting with Texas cornerback Malik Muhammad, who had two interceptions in 11 games for the Longhorns in 2025.

Muhammad is expected to be a Day 2 pick in the draft, meaning he would likely be a potential target for San Francisco at No. 58 in the second round. Texas CB Malik Muhammad disclosing some of the interested teams.

com/QlmnLOLqFa — Erik Turner Cover 1 (@ErikJTurner) April 9, 2026 It's not hard to see why the 49ers would be interested in Muhammad. He's 6-foot-1 and 182 pounds who is great in coverage despite his skinnier frame. He had 16 defended passes and four total interceptions in 41 games over three seasons for Texas, so he has ample collegiate experience that ideally would translate to the pros.
