Haynes: Not hearing any chatter tying Giannis Antetokounmpo to Boston Celtics

Yahoo Sports

It seems that the Boston Celtics' reported interest in Giannis Antetokounmpo as a potential trade target may have been overstated -- or even absent entirely according to a league news breaker known for his ties to the Milwaukee Bucks star forward. Prime NBA reporter Chris Haynes shared in a recent Sirius FM radio appearance ( via Basket News) that he has not "heard Boston in the mix as far as being a team that (Giannis) might be interested in. " "Maybe that's something that could change," he added.

"I've just never heard that (Boston has a level of legitimate interest in trading for the Bucks star)". "I've known, I don't want to say it now, but I've known of some teams that (were) intriguing," added Haynes. "I've never heard Boston mentioned.

" This of course does not mean that the initial reporting from the Athletic's Sam Amick was bad information, poorly sourced, or otherwise incorrect. Amick himself noted the "the reverse tampering feel" the intel regarding much of the recent chatter connecting Antetokounmpo to other teams. Specifically, where he writes that the Celtics "are known to be interested and discussed in league circles as potential suitors" almost certainly refers to routine calls made between teams to gauge trade value for potential targets regardless of their actual interest in making a deal in their current contexts.

Or more simply, Amick was not wrong nor misrepresenting a level of interest of Boston in one of the world's best basketball players. But don't expect any actual deals of Giannis to Boston any time soon, either. Listen to "Havlicek Stole the Pod" on: Blue Wire: https://tiny.
