The UNC basketball program will retain three key staff members including Sean May.
Michael Malone has only been on the job for a few days now as North Carolina basketball coach . But already, he's made some key decisions. A day after Malone is reportedly adding assistant coach Chuck Martin to his staff , a new report out states that he's retaining three key members of the coaching staff.
Per Andrew Jones of TarHeel247 , the Tar Heels are retaining Sean May, Eric Hoots and Pat Sullivan: North Carolina's coaching staff won't undergo a complete overhaul with Michael Malone as the program's new head coach, as he is retaining a few holdovers that have deep-rooted ties to the UNC Basketball family. Sean May, Pat Sullivan, and Eric Hoots, each of whom was on the staff for all five seasons of the Hubert Davis regime, are being retained by Malone, multiple sources have confirmed to TarHeel247. By doing so, Malone is keeping three coaches inside the Carolina Family on staff.
It will also help give Malone a better feel for the job, retaining guys who have been here for years and know the state of the program. The Tar Heels did see Marcus Paige leave the staff to take a job at Charlotte with Wes Miller.
