ESPN evaluates Florida football's top newcomer, Eric Singleton Jr, plus Jon Sumrall's thoughts on the transfer wide receiver.

Florida football has seen plenty of newcomers in recent months as the program looks to pivot away from a disappointing first half of the decade and restart under new head coach Jon Sumrall. The Gators have completely overhauled their coaching staff and have also brought in some fresh talent through the transfer portal. The biggest acquisition could be wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr.

, who came over from the Auburn Tigers this offseason to join the Orange and Blue. ESPN's Billy Tucker recently took a look at the top newcomers for all 16 SEC schools , with Singleton representing Florida's finest catch. While the quarterback position is still in flux, he puts a lot of trust in quarterback Aaron Philo and offensive coordinator Buster Falkner to right the ship under center.

If that pans out, it could mean big things for the senior receiver. Especially since he played under Faulkner's tutelage during his first two collegiate campaigns with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. "Singleton brings an exceptional record of high-volume, consistent production — leading Georgia Tech in receiving for two consecutive seasons (2023-2024), becoming the fastest receiver to 1,000 career yards since Calvin Johnson," Tucker offers.

"In 2025 at Auburn, he still led his team with 58 catches for 534 yards, showcasing his reliability by having a catch in all 36 collegiate games. " What Florida head coach Jon Sumrall said about Eric Singleton Jr. "Has elite speed, has had a ton of production as a college player," the skipper stated.
