One analyst recently detailed why Jaguars' QB Trevor Lawrence can win an MVP award.

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence had the best season of his career in 2025, even scoring nominations for league MVP and Comeback Player of the Year. While playing football at Clemson, Lawrence was touted as a generational talent, and while he's had some good years in Jacksonville, his career hadn't quite taken off as expected -- until Liam Coen was hired as head coach. Under Coen's leadership, Lawrence finally showed what he's capable of.

At season's end, he had racked up 4,007 passing yards, a career-high 29 passing touchdowns โ€” fifth in the NFL โ€” 12 interceptions, and a 91. 0 passer rating. This is in addition to 359 rushing yards and nine touchdowns, both career highs.

Among all quarterbacks, he ranked seventh in passing yards and fourth in passing touchdowns. As mentioned, Lawrence was a finalist for league MVP , coming in fifth, as well as Comeback Player of the Year , of which he finished fourth in votes . He didn't win either award, but Lawrence had arguably the best season of his career in 2025, meaning there is every reason to believe he will only continue to grow.

How high are the expectations for Lawrence in 2026? Well, he's already getting MVP buzz, this time from Nick Wright of First Things First. โ€œCan [Trevor Lawrence] win MVP?
