Ken DeWeese has been on the CSU men's basketball staff since 2024 but is now leaving for a head coaching job.

The Colorado State men's basketball team is losing an assistant coach. Ken DeWeese was named the new Colorado Mesa men's basketball coach on April 9. DeWeese joined CSU in 2024 under former coach Niko Medved and stayed on staff when Ali Farokhmanesh took over.

DeWeese had previously been at Wyoming. He's also coached at Northern Colorado previously. "CMU has always been a program on my radar.

The pride the University and the longstanding success of the men's basketball program, along with so many of the other great programs, made the opportunity an easy choice to pursue," DeWeese said in a news release . Colorado Mesa went 21-11 and made the Division II NCAA Tournament in 2025-26 and coach Mike Dunlap stepped down after the season.
