Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout is known for making highlight-reel catches in center field. In fact, a 2012 catch Trout made at Camden Yards in Baltimore remains in the conversation for the best catch in MLB history. Still, Trout never had a game like teammate Jo Adell enjoyed on Saturday, April 4.
Trout shouldn’t feel bad, though. No one else has ever robbed three potential home runs like Adell did in right field against the Seattle Mariners. MORE: National League has set an MLB record just 2 weeks into the season Adell described the feat on the “6-1-1 Podcast” with former Philadelphia Phillies stars Ryan Howard and Jimmy Rollins.
Adell said Trout was in awe, even after the first two catches. “Mike’s just looking at me with his arms crossed. He’s like, ‘Bro, you just … what is happening right now?
’ I’m like, ‘Dude, I’m on another level,'” Adell said, laughing. Adell stole home runs from Seattle’s Cal Raleigh in the first inning and Josh Naylor in the eighth inning. He told Howard and Rollins that he was playing deep on both balls and followed a similar route to the catches.
