Codie signed with former head coach Rodney Terry out of Dallas Newman Smith as a member of the 2024 recruiting class, choosing Texas after taking official visits to Auburn, Houston, LSU, Miami, and TCU. Other schools to offer included Alabama, Arizona State, Cal, Kansas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, and Virginia Tech, among others.
