Steelers to host USC WR Makai Lemon for Top 30 draft visit
The Steelers continue to do their due diligence with their predraft visits. On Thursday, it was USC WR Makai Lemon.
It is clear that despite trading for Michael Pittman Jr. the Pittsburgh Steelers are in no way satisfied with their wide receiver depth chart. The team continues to do its due diligence ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft, brining in receivers for Top 30 visits.
On Thursday, the Steelers welcomed in USC wide receiver Makai Lemon for a pre-draft visit with just two weeks to the start of the draft right there in Pittsburgh. Lemon hauled in 79 passes for 1,156 receiving yards and 11 receiving touchdowns in 2025. He lined up primarily on the outside at USC but projects as a slot receiver in the NFL.
He's got average size but makes up for it with crisp routes, excellent agility and the football acumen to create separation. What Lemon can do on the field has never been up for debate. If he had the type of size Carnell Tate or Jordyn Tyson have, he would definitely be in the Top 10 discussion.
However, there were concerns during the NFL Scouting Combine when Lemon spoke to the media that he sounded nothing like the young man who spoke at the preseason press day. The Steelers and every NFL team want to be sure that if they are going to commit a first-round pick on Lemon, they are getting a mature young man who takes his career in the NFL seriously.
