Clemson loses three-star 2027 safety Seth Williams to decommitment
Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers have lost a recruit in the 2027 class.
Clemson football’s 2027 recruiting group shrunk on Thursday after defensive back Seth Williams decided to reopen things. The Atlanta native, who attends Lakeside High School, had only been part of the class for a short time after committing in late March following a visit to campus. Now, he’s stepping back and exploring other opportunities.
Williams made the news public on social media, saying his recruitment is back open while also thanking Clemson for bringing him in during the process. Despite the change, the door isn’t fully closed. He still has an official visit to Clemson lined up for May 29-31, but he’s planning to be busy this summer.
Penn State and Vanderbilt are both expected to host him, and he also checked out Georgia Tech shortly before announcing the decision. On the field, Williams is coming off a productive junior campaign. He was active all over the defense, finishing with 73 tackles while adding multiple impact plays, including interceptions, tackles for loss and pass breakups.
He also contributed on offense with several big plays in the passing game. Former Clemson OC Tony Elliott gets contract extension at Virginia 📸 Jim Dedmon, Jim Dedmon-Imagn Images https://t. co/z3I7ISd9Fg pic.
