Michigan football coach Kyle Whittingham discusses spring ball progress, player standouts, and a key injury to running back Micah Ka'apana.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Michigan football is two-thirds of the way through spring ball, with 10 practices down, and five more to go, with the annual spring game on April 18 included. The Wolverines will have a much different look in many regards, with Kyle Whittingham now leading the charge.

But in some ways, the identity won't fully change, as the maize and blue will still have complementary football, as Whittingham notes. But how does the team look at this point as they continue the early preparation for the 2026 season? On Thursday morning, Whittingham spoke to the media for the first time since the outset of spring ball.

Here is everything he had to say. Opening statement OK, first things first, congrats to our basketball team, Dusty May and his crew. What a year, incredible season, national champions, and just a fun team to watch, and just so proud of those guys and congrats to them.
