It was an unexpected hire, and one that drew plenty of questions shortly after the news broke. But the jury was still out. That is, until now, a few weeks into the regular season.
Tim Kelly of Bleacher Report believes that the Giants might already regret the hiring of Vitello this offseason, with the Giants' "outside-the-box" hire potentially on a massive downswing if things don't turn around soon. Giants might already regret hiring Tony Vitello "None are impossible to overcome, but when you get a reputation early on as someone who puts their foot in their mouth, it can be difficult to overcome that," Kelly writes. "It might be even harder for Vitello, who is in his first year in any role on an MLB staff after previously serving as the head coach at the University of Tennessee.
" This hiring of Vitello was a bold move for the Giants, but there was a chance that it would work out just fine. The issue is that things haven't been going great. They're 5-8, last in the NL West, and one of the worst records in all of baseball.
