Texas is a hotbed for high school football talent. See the top 10 players from the Lone Star State in the 2027 class.

There aren't many things in the world that go hand-in-hand better than Texas and high school football. Many would argue that Texas is the best state in the country when it comes to high school football. It's hard to argue when looking at the top teams and the talent that comes out each year.

Several current and former NFL stars hail from the state, as do many of today's top college stars. What about that next crop of elite high school players waiting to make a name for themselves? Here's a look at the top 10 players from the Lone Star State in the 2027 class.

1. John Meredith, North Crowley (Fort Worth) Position: Cornerback Height: 6-2 Weight: 175 Commitment: Uncommitted Football recruiting notes: Probably the most polished defensive back in this class, Meredith is both a football and track star. Given his elite coverage skills and speed, nearly every program is after him, and he'll take visits to Alabama (May 29), Texas (June 5), Texas A&M (June 12), and Ohio State (June 19) over the summer.

2. Jalen Brewster, Cedar Hill Position: Defensive Lineman Height: 6-3 Weight: 302 Commitment: Texas Tech Football recruiting notes: Brewster committed to the Red Raiders last October, but that commitment may not be as solid as it once was following the recent departure of defensive line coach Zarnell Fitch. Programs like Indiana, LSU, Miami and Ohio State have remained heavily involved trying to flip him.
