ESPN's Peter Schrager adds to both sides of Jets in Round 1 mock
Here's what the Jets do in ESPN's Peter Schrager's mock draft.
ESPN's Peter Schrager has released one of his only mock predictions ahead of the 2026 NFL draft based on the intel he has ahead of the event. With the New York Jets holding two selections heading into Round 1, his mock is all the more curious. At No.
2 overall, the Jets opt for a different defender than Ohio State's Arvell Reese, instead taking Texas Tech's David Bailey. With their other first rounder, a playmaker for offense via Indiana's Omar Cooper is the selection at No. 16 overall.
For more on both picks, Schrager's breakdowns can be found below: David Bailey, Edge, Texas Tech This will likely be either Bailey or Ohio State's Arvell Reese -- New York was 31st in sacks last season with 26 -- but I have to think Bailey is the guy for the Jets. He is a polished pass rusher with proven production, tying for the FBS lead in sacks (14. 5) in 2025.
He can be a Day 1 disrupter off the edge. Omar Cooper Jr. , WR, Indiana Every GM I speak to seems to love Cooper.
