Cornish Pirates sign Exeter centre Ascherl on loan

Cornish Pirates have signed Exeter Chiefs centre Harry Ascherl on loan until the end of the season. The former Bristol Bears player joined Chiefs on a deal until the end of the season back in October following a successful trial. Ascherl is now available for Pirates' final four league matches of the campaign - starting with a home clash against Chinnor on Saturday - as well as the play-offs should they qualify.

Pirates are seventh in the Champ table , three points off Hartpury who occupy the final play-off spot, with the two sides facing each other on the final day of the regular season. Ascherl has made appearances for Exeter this season, playing in four Prem Rugby Cup games as the club reached the final and all 80 minutes of Chiefs' 31-31 draw against Racing 92 in the European Challenge Cup in December. In a statement on X , Cornish Pirates wrote: "The ex-Bristol Bears centre has been training with the squad for the past fortnight and is available for selection with immediate effect.
