Nebraska men's basketball experienced a shocking departure on Wednesday morning. Junior forward Berke Büyüktuncel officially entered the transfer portal after two seasons with the Cornhuskers. In 35 games this season, the forward averaged 6.

5 points and 5. 6 rebounds per game and totaled 34 blocked shots. He even recorded the fourth triple-double in school history against North Dakota with 12 points, 11 rebounds and a career-high 10 assists.

In the NCAA Tournament, he averaged 7. 7 points per game and a team-high 7. 0 rebounds per game.

The Bursa, Türkiye native, penned a letter to Husker fans and expressed his gratitude for the last two seasons. These past two years at Nebraska have been nothing short of life-changing but the time has come for a new chapter. I'm beyond thankful to Coach Hoiberg — not only an exceptional coach, but one of the best human beings I've had the privilege to learn from — along with our entire staff, my teammates and our incredible fans.

The culture and the people within this program are truly one of a kind. What we built here will stay with me far beyond basketball. Making NCAA history together and fighting our way to the Sweet 16 wasn't just an achievement; it was the result of a real brotherhood.
