Who did readers vote for Montgomery-area boys and girls basketball players and coaches of the year?

See who the Montgomery Advertiser readers voted as the boys and girls high school basketball players and coaches of the year.

On March 26 and 27, the Montgomery Advertiser asked its readers to vote for who they believed were boys and girls high school basketball players , and coaches of the year for the 2025-26 season in the Montgomery area. Both polls ran for a week long and gave readers a chance to vote once per hour during that time span. The boys polls closed on April 2, and the girls poll closed on April 3.

According to the fan vote, the boys basketball player of the year was MJ Belser from Montgomery Catholic. Belser won the poll with 5,779 of the votes, accounting for 36% of the 16,182 total votes the poll received. On the coaching side, Lincoln Glass of Macon East was chosen by the readers as the boys basketball coach of the year with 11,620 votes, which translated to 46% of the 25,337 votes.

In the girls poll, it was Prattville's KeLeigh Mullens that came out victorious with 10,423 votes, which was 39% of the 26,723 total votes. Stanhope Elmore's Kelvin Stokes claimed the girls coaches poll with 13,500 votes, which was 74% of the 18,290 total votes. Belser was the Knights big man on the court during the 2025-26 season, and contributed 321 points along with 243 rebounds for Montgomery Catholic.

Mullens was named to the ASWA's All-State third team, and was the senior voice on a young Prattville squad. She scored 574 points, contributed 161 assists and grabbed 185 rebounds. Mullens was also named an all-star in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic.
