Swimmers quickly find sea legs to lead Ida boys track and field past Summerfield.
IDA – Out of the pool and onto the track Brenner Nelson, Brandon Tross, Mason Reynolds and Cameron Cogan were members of the Erie Mason-Ida swimming team a few weeks ago. They standouts for Ida in a 73-64 track and field victory over Summerfield on Wednesday, April 8. They didn’t look like fish out of water.

Tross swept the hurdles and Nelson took the 400 and the high jump. “Their bodies are starting to get back under them for track,” said Ida coach Jason Childress.
“We’ve kind of eased them in. We don’t want to give them too much pounding. ” All four of the swimmers compete in sprint events.
That makes it more difficult to transition from the pool to the track. “Long-distance runners can handle it a little better,” Childress said. “You’re not asking the muscles to fire in the same manner as sprinters.
