The Detroit Chapter of the Professional Hockey Writers Association has made Shine this year’s Red Wings nominee for the Masterton Trophy.
The Masterton is awarded annually to the NHL player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey. Last season, after nine seasons and more than 450 games with the AHL Grand Rapids Griffins , Shine would earn his first recall to the Red Wings. He played nine games with the Red Wings last season. After scoring 25 goals with the Griffins this season, Shine was again summoned to the big club.
