Webb City beats Lebanon 7-4
LEBANON, Mo. — The Webb City High School baseball team improved to 9-3 with a 7-4 win Tuesday over the Lebanon High School Yellowjackets at LHS. The Cardinals jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning.
Braden Strickland got Webb City on the board with a single to left that plated Trevor Lofland. The Redbirds then capitalized on a pair of Lebanon miscues. Marcus Young scored on an infield error, and Strickland later scored on a wild pitch to make it 3-0.
Webb City increased its lead to 4-0 in the top of the fourth when Karsen Myers was hit by a pitch with bases loaded, scoring Abel Getz. Lebanon (3-8) trimmed the lead to 4-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning, courtesy of a Beckett York triple to center field that scored Malachi Simmonds and Cole Milliken. The Cardinals lead shrank to a single run at 4-3 when York scored on a Harrison Cranmer line drive single to left field.
Webb’s final three runs came in the top of the seventh. Strickland brought Mason Williams and Talan Haslip home with a single to center field and Mason Young made it a 7-3 game when he scored on a wild pitch. Lebanon’s Cranmer hit a two-out single in the bottom of the frame that scored Austin Gilby, but that is all the Yellowjackets could muster as the Cardinals held on for the 7-4 win.
Strickland led the Redbirds offense, finishing 2 for 4 with three RBIs and a run. Young was 1 for 3 with two RBIs. Webb City starter Tate Lewis earned the win after giving up one run on three hits.
