Duke basketball coach Jon Scheyer's salary and where it ranks among the sport
Here's a look at Jon Scheyer's salary with Duke basketball from the 2023-24 season.
Duke basketball 's Jon Scheyer earned nearly $2. 4 million from Duke during the 2023-24 season according to USA TODAY Sports' annual review of coaching compensation. Scheyer’s total pay came to $2,383,769, ranking him No.
64 among all college basketball coaches and No. 11 in the ACC. However, the number only reflects Scheyer's pay directly from the school, per its IRS Form 990 for the 2023 fiscal year, as Duke is a private school and not required to publicly release his contract.
It does not include pay received from outside sources. Kansas' Bill Self is the sport’s highest-paid coach with a salary of $8. 8 million, followed by UConn’s Dan Hurley, Arkansas’ John Calipari, Michigan State’s Tom Izzo and Tennessee's Rick Barnes to round out the top five salaries.
Scheyer has a 124-25 record in four seasons with Duke, taking over for legendary coach Mike Krzyzewski following the 2021-22 season. He has led Duke to back-to-back 35-win seasons and back-to-back ACC regular season and tournament titles. He was named as the 2026 ACC Coach of the Year and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division I Coach of the Year.
