Professional golfer Tiger Woods officially has been charged in the rollover crash near his Jupiter Island home, according to Martin County court documents. Woods, 50, faces misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence with property damage and refusal to submit to testing, according to court documents filed April 7 by the State Attorney’s Office on the Treasure Coast. The state also plans to issue a subpoena on April 22 for Woods' prescription drug dispensary records, according to court documents.

It plans to request those records from Jan. 1 through March 27, the day the crash occurred. Prosecutors said in the court filing they will seek copies of “any and all prescription medication on file” for Woods to include type of prescription, number of pills, dosage amount and “all special instructions on how to take the medication,” including warnings about operating a motor vehicle while taking the prescriptions.

The next scheduled court dates in the case are April 23 for an arraignment by Judge Kathleen H. Roberts and May 5 for a pre-trial hearing with Judge Darren Steele, to determine if the case is ready for a trial, needs a continuance, or will be resolved by a plea bargain. In paperwork filed March 31 by attorney Douglas Duncan, Woods waived arraignment, entered a not guilty plea and waived his appearance at all pretrial conferences and other hearings.

Duncan also represented Woods in a 2017 DUI arrest case in Palm Beach County. On April 1, Judge Darren Steele approved Woods' request to travel out of the country to start "comprehensive inpatient treatment" following his DUI-related arrest days earlier, according to court records. It's possible he's in Switzerland.

How the crash happened On March 27, Martin County sheriff's deputies went to the 200 block of South Beach Road on Jupiter Island about 2 p. m. in response to the crash, according to officials.
