‘Toyota Center Reimagined’: Rockets launch $180M arena upgrade project
Construction on the “Toyota Center Reimagined” project will begin following the 2025-26 Rockets season, with completion expected by the fall of 2027.
On Wednesday, Toyota Center and Clutch City Sports & Entertainment announced “Toyota Center Reimagined. ” The arena upgrade project will cost $180 million, according to the Houston Chronicle , with close to half paid for by Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta. Described as a transformation of the Rockets’ home arena, the project is designed to elevate the fan experience and further position downtown Houston as a premier destination for sports, entertainment, and major events, according to the team’s announcement.
The comprehensive project, approved Wednesday by the Harris County–Houston Sports Authority, represents a transformational investment in the future of downtown Houston and coincides with the George R. Brown Convention Center expansion project, which is already underway. Construction will begin following the 2025-26 Rockets season, with completion expected by the fall of 2027.
“Today’s announcement reflects our commitment to continually invest in Houston and deliver a world-class experience for the millions of guests who visit Toyota Center and downtown Houston each year,” said Rockets owner Tilman J. Fertitta, the owner of Clutch City Sports & Entertainment. “Toyota Center Reimagined will elevate the guest experience, introduce dynamic new gathering spaces, and ensure that Toyota Center remains one of the premier sports and entertainment destinations in the country.
