Matt Ryan comments on Kaleb McGary's surprise retirement

Atlanta Falcons offensive tackle Kaleb McGary shocked those around the NFL on Wednesday by retiring from the league after seven seasons. McGary missed all of the 2025 season due to a knee injury and now is stepping down permanently at the age of 31. Since the team let Eljjah Wilkinson walk in free agency, they will need to find a new starting right tackle for 2026.

Falcons president of football Matt Ryan, who played with McGary for three seasons (2019-2021), released a statement following his former teammate's retirement. "I truly enjoyed my time playing alongside Kaleb," said Ryan. "He was an outstanding teammate and had a tremendous career as a Falcon.

" The Falcons are reportedly set to sign former Kansas City Chiefs offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor to replace McGary, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
