Atlanta Falcons offensive tackle Kaleb McGary shocked those around the NFL on Wednesday by retiring from the league after seven seasons. McGary missed all of the 2025 season due to a knee injury and now is stepping down permanently at the age of 31. Since the team let Eljjah Wilkinson walk in free agency, they will need to find a new starting right tackle for 2026.
Falcons president of football Matt Ryan, who played with McGary for three seasons (2019-2021), released a statement following his former teammate's retirement. "I truly enjoyed my time playing alongside Kaleb," said Ryan. "He was an outstanding teammate and had a tremendous career as a Falcon.
We are grateful for the impact he made on this organization, and we wish him nothing but the best in retirement. " The Falcons are reportedly set to sign former Kansas City Chiefs offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor to replace McGary, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
