He was drafted in the top-10 of the 2025 NHL Draft after scoring 37 points in 37 games for the Boston College Eagles as a true freshman. After being drafted, he returned to Chestnut Hill for his sophomore season.
Hagens played even better as a sophomore, recording 47 points on 23 goals and 24 assists in just 34 games. His efforts in the NCAA earned him an AHL contract. He joined the Providence Bruins in late March and made his debut on March 25.
