Freddie Freeman Played Role in Miguel Rojas Decision
Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Miguel Rojas revealed first baseman Freddie Freeman played a role in his removal from Tuesday’s lineup. The Dodgers originally had Rojas playing shortstop and batting eighth, but scratched him just before first pitch and replaced him with Hyeseong Kim. Wednesday morning, Rojas revealed the reason was his father’s death .
“With immense pain on the part of the whole Rojas family, today I have to let you know everyone who had the opportunity to meet and share with my father Miguel Rojas ‘Micky’ who yesterday April 7 died suddenly in the afternoon hours,” Rojas wrote in Spanish . “I want to sincerely thank everyone who has reached out to me and my entire family to show their love and let us know how loved my dad was throughout his life. May God receive him in his glory and rest in peace ?
” What Did Freddie Freeman Do To Remove Rojas From of the Lineup? Ahead of Wednesday’s series finale against the Toronto Blue Jays, Rojas said Freeman, as well as manager Dave Roberts, were the ones who pushed for his exclusion from the game. “I wanted to play yesterday, but Freddie and Doc took it out of my hands, ’cause they knew it was gonna be difficult to stay in the game and have my head there,” Rojas said, per the Orange County Register’s Bill Plunkett.
Plunkett also reported Rojas didn’t know whether he’d step away from the Dodgers periodically to be with his family. “I always say, they raised me up and they give up everything in their life for me to be a baseball player,” Rojas said . “This is what they want me to do.
