Penn State loses freshman guard Kayden Mingo to transfer portal
The Penn State Nittany Lions have lost freshman guard Kayden Mingo to the transfer portal, the fifth player to transfer this offseason.
The 2026-27 season will be another year of learning new names and faces for Penn State basketball fans. Two of the teamโs top players, Melih Tunca and Freddie Dilione V , entered the transfer portal after a miserable 12-20 season. While the Nittany Lions have made a couple of under-the-radar additions , theyโve lost more than theyโve gained, and things are continuing to trend in that direction.
Kayden Mingo, a promising freshman guard, entered the transfer portal today , becoming the fifth Penn State player to transfer in the weeks since last season ended. Mingo showed a lot of potential, averaging 13. 7 points, 3.
5 rebounds, and 4. 3 assists per game in his first college season. The freshman guard entering the portal means that three of the Nittany Lions โ top five scorers are in the portal.
That adds up to more than 30 points per game missing from a team that already had difficulty scoring. Nobody thought this offseason would be easy for Penn State, but the challenges just keep on piling up. Follow Nittany Lions Wire on X and Facebook .
